Presented the following Frames to colleagues: Consonant Phoneme / Vowel Phoneme. These Frames were a complement to the Unit Organizer developed for the Phonemes in English. Each Frame extended / expanded participants' awareness of the intricate nature of phonemes.
(*CHALLENGE) Although the content was not familiar to participants, (*BENEFIT) the Frames helped organize information to draw attention to the similarities / differences among the speech sounds in English. Participants walked away from each session with a deeper understanding of the challenges inherent in teaching speech sounds to emergent readers.
The Framing Routine can be a valuable tool for helping students / teachers see connections between ideas. Understanding how information is related helps to support internalization and use of the content addressed in each Frame.
The Consonant / Vowel Phoneme Frames are 'good to go' as presented. This particular content and the tool (Frame device) complement each other.
