Students understood the connections between the key topic, main ideas, and essential details.
Since we completed the FRAME together with a key topic that was non-academic, and that all students were familiar with, it made it easier to complete the FRAME together using the disciplinary literacy reading strategies and the article.
What was a challenge?
I shouldn’t have given students two items to use the FRAME for. I should have had students focus only on strategies or only on the article. That part seemed to make things more difficult for students.
Next time/Adjustments
Next time, I will only give students one piece of information to utilize the FRAME with.
I think it could also be beneficial for students to complete one more FRAME on a key topic that is non-academic related. Having another example and experience could help support students and allow them to feel more comfortable completing the FRAME.
