Surface Area Framing Routine

The FRAME routine was used in a special education math class. The math class is everyday for 55 minutes, and the class make up consist of 6 students: 2 females and 4 males. 1 Student with other health impairment, 3 Students with specific learning disabilities, 1 with Autism,  1 is a student with a disability, and 1 student with intellectual disability.  I use the Framing Routine with my class at the beginning of each unit . The completion of the Routine takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour for introduction of notes. The use of the Framing Routine can be incorporated every two weeks as new information is presented to the students per unit or while in the same unit. This is becoming a familiar and expected component to my class and the students have accepted the new way of taking down information. The students enjoy completing the FRAME because they have input into the new notes. It is also helpful as in when we review for prior knowledge, and helps make connections to previous units.
