The basics of this routine was explained in a group session. Examples were given and we had the opportunity to complete some examples on our own. I chose Tier 2 words that students would see in 8th grade Civics (responsibility and duty) to complete a clarifying graphic organizer. It gave me a good picture of how this routine might be effective in helping my students remember important vocabulary for their subjects, thus improving their understanding of content that is covered in that subject.
