I haven't utilized sites an awful lot, but it seems to be a way to share information only, rather than for teacher/student and even student/student interactions as a classroom management tool.

1.  It allows a way for students to submit work which can be graded within this platform and returned without any exchange of physical papers or documents, which sometimes simplifies things.  This also allows a way to check progress of students work on, lets say, a multi-part project and provide feedback throughout.

2. This makes use of the calendar easy, as calendar is automatically updated with assignments you put in for yourself and students.  They can easily access their google calendars and see what is upcoming that is due.  It also has the calendar right on the front page of classroom that shows upcoming assignments.  This has eliminated the need for me to use remind and even post things on the board (though I still often do).

3. This allows me to invite guardians for students so they too can access the calendar and assignments of their students without having to exchange emails  or post something additional on a site.  When I post an assignment, pretty much everything I need to do is done automatically through classroom, where as it would require multiple steps otherwise.
