Precise Praise As a teacher, providing positive reinforcement can be an effective technique to improve student confidence. I believe that specific positive reinforcement is much more effective than general praise. For example, during our basketball unit, I would rather praise a student by saying “ good job keeping your head up while dribbling" than just saying “good job”. Praise is important, however, it should be earned. Additionally students should know specifically what they are being praised for.
