In the Article I read by University of Southern Denmark it was describing the increased diversity near the larger melting ponds in the Artic caused by the increased climate. These melting ponds that form on the top of glaciers accumulate algae and other organisms that then fall into the water. When they fall into the water it is immediately ingested by the creatures living near the top like krill. Whatever is left float to the bottom and becomes food for bottom feeders. As we had learned in our book that with a higher availability of food the more diverse an area becomes. As in this article the rise in melting ponds is what is contributing to the larger numbers of sea life in the area. (University of Southern Denmark.
