After reading the article about the hydrologic cycle posted by NASA, I have a better understanding of how the water system works. The water is heated by the sun causing evaporation. Then water condenses into clouds. This then leads to precipitation: water falls into the Earth by either rain or snow. Transpiration than occurs and finally infiltrate where water from the ground is released back into the ocean.
