Reflection:  The instructional objective was met.  I know this because students were able to create a vocabulary flipbook as well as use flocabulary.   The vocabulary flipbook was sent home so students could study vocabulary at home and their parents could help them practice important vocabulary.

After attending the ER professional development and learning about  flipgrid (flipgrip.com), I made a note to include flipgrid to enhance this unit next year.  I would (or have my students) pose a question for their classmates to respond to by creating short videos.  I think flipgrid would have improved the unit by getting the students to talk more about embryology, and what they had observed when the chick’s hatched.

Having a local farmer come in and teach a lesson on hatching eggs would have strengthened the lesson.  S/he could give a meaningful conversation about embryology and students could see how embryology helps our economy, and perhaps see a future career or just a hobby.

Also, I would have read Patricia Polacco’s book. Just Plain Fancy during this unit instead of saving it for my Patricia Polacco author book study.
