The most relevant topic Melanie Adams discussed dealt with professionalism. I will be the first to admit that I am not the most intimidating person, nor do I put off an air of authority. She discussed the reality that the way we present ourself (basically how we dress) will help gain the respect of the students and their families. I will use this in my classroom so I maintain the boundary of personal and professional and gain the respect of the students in a nonthreatening way.
