SAMR Level 1Robynn DrerupThe video presents the 4 levels of SAMR which are Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. It explains that substitution is just simply instead of writing it paper/pencil, you keep the same assignment and substitute it with the computer. If you are reaching the augmentation level, you keep the same assignment but now you have the student do it on google docs so that you can comment/share with each other. Modification and redefinition takes student learning to a new level that was not even possible a few years ago. The initial assignment is changed so that more learning and ownership can take place. It is REAL learning that becomes ALIVE by the students being engaged and excited about their tasks. Obviously as teachers, we need to strive to have our students working at the modification and redefinition levels as often as we can so that they are using those higher level thinking skills and are able to share them with the world at just one click~
