This video did a nice job of explaining the 4 levels of using technology and taking a task and transforming it.  This allows for students to reach a global authentic audience.  The four levels are...Substitution-tech acts as a direct substitute with no functional change.  Augmentation-direct substitute with functional improvement. Modification-allows for task redesign. Redefinition-allows for creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable.   Teachers should keep in mind What, Why, and How when using technology to make it worthwhile for students...don't just use technology because you can.
