Ethical Considerations To Consider

Several ethical considerations and challenges arise when incorporating artificial intelligence into educational settings. One significant concern is student data privacy, as many AI tools collect user information that could potentially be misused, sold, or compromised if adequate protections are not in place. For this reason, it is essential to teach students not to enter personally identifiable information, such as full names, addresses, or personal reflections into public AI platforms. Another major ethical issue is the increasingly blurred line between using AI as a learning support and engaging in academic dishonesty/cheating. Educators must establish clear expectations for appropriate AI use, define what constitutes acceptable assistance, and encourage students to critically evaluate and fact-check AI generated content.
