The newsletter is a good resource for Digital Literacy and helpful for students and teachers. I plan to post this in my classroom for students!

I hope to delve into some of these ideas for next year. I am always looking for fresh ways to teach students. I will share these ideas with my colleagues through meetings, PD, and student work.

Useful resource

The newsletter is a good synopsis of Digital Literacy, and gives grade-appropriate resources to teachers who are just learning to teach DL, and provides new material to those who are established. Very useful!

Digital Literacy Newsletter

Wow!  This is a great newsletter!  It is teacher language friendly and it also has some great links and lesson plans attached to each standard to help teachers make sure they are covering all of the topics needed.

I can use these resources to teach digital literacy to our students in a variety of ways. I can incorporate these resources into their lesson plans and teach students how to use digital tools effectively to access and create digital content. I can also use these resources to promote positive and ethical behaviors in online communication and teach students about digital safety and responsibility.

To share these resources with colleagues, teachers can create a digital literacy curriculum that includes these resources and share it with their colleagues. They can also organize professional development sessions where they can share their experiences with these resources and show their colleagues how to use them effectively in their classrooms. Additionally, teachers can create online communities where they can share digital literacy resources and collaborate with other educators to improve their digital literacy teaching practices.

I provide students with choice boards for project presentation so they can learn about different programs and choose on that suits them best

I already offer my students choice projects, where they can choose the digital platform that they think would be the best way for them to demonstrate and share their learning.  Each time, I include options for them to do things outside of just Microsoft Word.  They are able to choose Power Point, Book Creator, creating a video, creating brochures, taping a podcast, etc.  This helps them get familiar with new programs, and it also allows them to demonstrate learning in a way that is aligned with their learning style.  I liked the idea shared in this article about having students use Power Point to create a digital scrapbook.  Most people do not think to use it in this way, and I think this will be a great addition to my project options.  I also do my best to encourage other teachers to use the choice options, and to try to add one new project option each time.
