I do believe that EdPuzzle will enhance student learning because it is self-paced and allows the teacher to focus on the content and skills the students will need to demonstrate understanding of an objective. I think that if it is consistently and over used then there is a chance some students will develop a dislike for the application. It can be utilized to review information and also present new content as well.
I will definitely need to use EdPuzzle this upcoming school year with my AP World History Modern students. There is not enough time for me to be able to cover all of the instructional topics before their exam in May. I know I will be pulled from my class to attend professional development during the school year so that will set instruction back as well. Assigning students an EdPuzzle on those days I am out will help ensure they continue to receive the content information they need. I can also utilize EdPuzzle if I go the path of flipped classroom and have the students learn the content through the excellent videos already created by YouTubers such as Steve Heimler and then show their understanding with the questions I assign through EdPuzzle. Classroom time can then be used to focus on historical thinking skills and writing practice since the students will come prepared with their content knowledge. I can also assign some of the review videos prior to unit tests or the AP Exam to make sure the students are reviewing the content.
