Compassion Test Scores

I had a little trouble with the link to the test, but I scored a solid moderate in all sections. I was truly expecting that.  The last few years have been very difficult to be a teacher.  That difficulty existed before the pandemic, and has only increased in the duration.

I do get satisfaction from helping others.  The increasing number of students that have very difficult and ugly things happen in their lives makes it hard to have enough time and resources to help all students.  I feel that it especially makes things even more stressful to not only here of terrible things happening to the students I see on a daily basis, but to also watch that happen around the world on the news in the evening.  I am still hopeful that in the next few years, I will feel less burnout with the proper breaks and self-care.

ProQOL Results

For my results, I scored "moderately" in all three sections of the quiz.

I feel this tough year has brought my compassion satisfaction down significantly, but feel the same about my levels of burnout. I am glad to see I am not the only teacher who even though they feel a bit burned out or overwhelmed with helping their students, they still want to continue to help them.

Professional Quality of Life

My Professional Quality of Life assessment resulted in the following:
Compassion Satisfaction level was high.
Burnout level was moderate
Secondary Traumatic Scale was moderate.

I am passionate about what I do and thoroughly enjoy it. I am a verteran teacher and still struggle with finding a good balance between separating my work life from my own personal life. It's very hard to leave situations at work and not have them carry over. I know it is very easy to become burned out and traumatized so I need to be aware and focus on self-care in order to remain balanced in these areas.

Reflection

I like the idea of breaking this down into multiple parts because I think compassion fatigue can be really different for different career paths. For instance I may have less compassion fatigue than let's say a counselor at my school but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist for me. Based on my scores I gain a lot of satisfaction from my job, I believe that helping people is important, I am happy that I am able to help people, but in the same breath my burnout score was high as well. Clearly the act of doing all of that helping does have a never ending effect on the brain and can sometimes feel futile, which is where that score comes in.

Score and Reflection

My score for compassion scale was 40, I am very compassionate and happy butI realized I get very stressed out and sometimes let that consume me.

My test scores show that I am very happy and feel good many times of the day.  But I have times of stress and tragedy that like many have to deal with at times.

reflection

Based upon my scores, I think that they are accurate. I do think that burnout score is appropriate. I feel overwhelmed with the added duties that I have been given and the constant change. I also think that I am not doing enough to help the students and staff. I need remember that I am only one person and I am doing the best that I can.

Compassion satisfaction- 51 Burnout- 32 Secondary Traumatic Stress- 28

My compassion satisfaction score was high which means I find satisfaction form my job. I would say this is accurate as I do find enjoyment from being able to help others. My burnout score was in the middle of the moderate range which is accurate as I often feel like I am not doing enough for my students or being an effective educator. I also think not having the most supportive work environment is a contributing factor.

Score and reflection

My score for compassion scale was 41, I do know there are times I can be compassionate and happy but many times I get stressed out with all my responsibilities and its hard for me to deal.

I guess my test scores show that I am usually happy and feeling good but I have times of stress and tragedy I have to deal with.
