Thankfully, my major is all about creativity being based in technology and engineering. The premise of our course work and standards revolve around using a design process to solve real-world problems, and at the core is coming up with a creative solution by using sometimes out-of-the-box solutions. This assignment is no different, showcasing a variety of ways students can develop their own creative process by working and understanding the steps in construction by following a real-world example/process to understand the concept. This lesson fits into a NEW model because it breaks the students out of a traditional classroom setting, where they just in sit at their desks, listening to a lecture, and gets them into a lab style setting where the work is hands-on and they get to create something. Most of the time, with a Tech Ed class, the class is usually always elective based- so the kids who take the class are actually wanting to be there, so these students will most likely appreciate a hands-on or craft-based experience. Not to mention, these students are also typically hands-on learners, so they'll be learning and understanding the course content better by completing it in a model anyways.
