TPACK Reflection

As the TPACK keynote address mentioned - content, pedagogy and technology are messy, and complex.  My teacher's creativity causes me to tweak and tweak various knobs to find what works best for my students and then sometimes I scratch it all and start all over again.  I struggle to find what I feel is the best offering and many times when I reteach it I change my approach.  I liked hearing that solutions to the building process are not right or wrong, just good or bad and even that is based on relative judgement. I feel the lesson I chose can be deemed NEW, I am not sure how everyone would feel about it, but I am confident for my situation at this moment it is a good decision. It is a new approach to note taking, I call them interactive notes, so it checks of the N.   It is Useful not just Unique as the students' increased engagement and anonymity causes a higher and safer learning environment. The W can be seen through the creativity of being able to bring a whole group into a learning experience that builds differently with each class.  The dictionary defines a designer as, “A person who plans the form, look, or workings of something before its being made or built, typically by drawing it in detail.”  Teaching used to be the teacher building the product and then sharing with the students what they needed to know. Now we are designers, I had to construct the form of the lesson on the NearPod application but I did not create the answers. I did the frame and the students helped to put the building together. As I progress and strive to integrate technology more effectively I want the students to become more and more involved in the type of building we put together and I can just be a foreman who tells them to get to work.
