Three online tools that could be used for formative and/or summative assessments are Nearpod, Seesaw, and Flipgrid. Nearpod allows for interaction from students when it comes to lesson plans. For example, you could have a basic presentation but integrate reflection questions for your students to answer as they go along the presentation. Two pros of Nearpod would be that you are gaining student interaction and it could be used for E-Learning. Two cons of Nearpod would be that it is not very active and it could potentially be expensive. Seesaw is comparable to Schoology or Canvas; it is a platform educators can use to add activities (lessons/assignments) for students to do. This is a great way to integrate formative assessments so you can track class and individual student progress. Two pros of Seesaw are that progress can be tracked easily and students can interact with each other electronically. Two cons of Seesaw are that there aren’t very many editing options and it is easy to lose assignments if a student accidentally clicks off. Flipgrid is a platform used for video discussion. Students can respond to questions, reflect on content, leave questions, and much more. Two pros of Flipgrid are that every student can be involved and it helps students with speaking and listening skills. Two cons of Flipgrid are that students could make inappropriate responses and students could waste class time if not monitored frequently.
