Google Forms
- Google Forms is a great tool for either summative or formative assessments. Teachers can create different style questions (i.e. multiple choice, short answer, etc.). Teachers can also assign points for questions and frame it more as a graded quiz. Google Forms has lots of extensions that can create more options for teachers to be creative. Most importantly, Google Forms is free! So it is accessible to everyone.
- Pros: Free, can create as a quiz, lots of different question types, helpful extensions
- Cons: No way to check to see if students are cheating
- Kahoot is an interactive game for students. Teachers can create a fun quiz for students to compete against each other and in groups. Kahoot does have an additional feature where you can create it as a homework assignment. Although it was free, Kahoot has now added some fees for use. This would be great for formative assessments as teachers can pull a report of students answers after the Kahoot game is over.
- Pros: fun for students, can use as a review game/homework, teachers can run a report of student answers
- Cons: may have to pay some fees, may be a distraction for students
- Poll Everywhere is an interactive real-time polling system. The user can create polls based off of questions that are multiple choice, open ended, and other types as well. Data is shown in real time and can even be shared during your online meeting. Links to the survey polls can be sent out early as well. The website does offer free accounts but each poll is limited to 25 responses.
- Pros: real time data results, information is sharable, multiple forms of questions
- Cons: can be fees
