dailyart

Since I plan to be teaching in Middle School, I would have to make sure the art is appropriate. I have been using the app for about three weeks and have noticed about one or two paintings from renaissance and baroque era that may be too risqué for that age group. If that was the case we would have to skip bell work that day or find other arrangements. What I like about the app though is that you can go back to the days before, so this could be helpful in planning and managing bellwork schedule.

Prodigy

My app is called Prodigy. It had both pros and cons. One con of the app was that it did not have sound and expected young children to be able to read.  One pro of the app was that it connected to google classroom so you can make each student account in one click.  The app only use the lower levels of Bloom’s taxonomy; students could not create anything to do with math. They can only answer lower level questions. There was not much differentiation between questions. They were all just “type in one answer” questions.  The curriculum was connected to individual states. However, the curriculum was not integrated through different subjects. It was just math.   I might use this app occasionally in my classroom, but I would not make it an every day thing.

Extra Information

Something else that I found interesting was about this app was how it showed the percentage of how much you completed on the home page for any given map. I think this is a cool feature for students to refer to when completing activities. This will allow them to set goals for themselves and also a good way for teachers to indicate how far along they are. They will be able to tell if they have goofing off or if they seem to be struggling with a certain level.

Endless Wordplay

Endless Wordplay is an app that can be used for students who are just learning how to read and spell or students who are struggling with reading and spelling. Levels get harder as levels get higher this is good that for students who are good at spelling and reading can reach the higher levels to practice on harder words. Teachers can make this into a competition where you recognize what level is each student on this might make students more motivation to play this game.

Extra info.

When I submitted to link straight from the App Store, the badge site would not allow me to place it in the url box. Because of this I went to the origin website of the creator of the app and used that instead. In the text box allowed I put the actual information that I copied straight from the App Store there.

Starfall ABC's App

In my video I spoke about the overall logistics and the con's of fluency in regards to the Starfall ABC's app. I also described how some of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences appeared in the app. Lastly I chose to focus on the Curriculum Connections and Differentiation displayed in the app. One thing I forgot to mention in my review video was that the boxes on the far right of the home page were advertisement links to other Starfall games.

Extra Information

I’m not sure if the sound worked or not.
Overall, the app was easy to use and practical for mind mapping. It’s basic and functional interface made it reasonable for anyone to use it. Though it was not very “game” like, it was still functional. For those who appreciate being clean and organized, this app is very useful and a little fun. Those who do well with mind mapping will definitely appreciate this app.

Classroom Uses for Scribble

Scribble can be used in different ways in the classroom. Teachers can use scribble as a way to present material while making marks & highlighting certain information that is important to the students. Teachers can also pass around the iPad to the students while the project on being view on the SmartBoard through the url and have students draw or answer questions on the app. Teachers can pull up a picture of the map of the United States and students must circle the state that the teacher calls out. The app can also be used as a grading tool, like I explained in the video, for teachers and students.
