Why Earn This Badge?

An elevator pitch is more than just a sales pitch, it is a way to verbally communicate the relevance of our science work in the context of benefits to society.  This badge represents your capacity to not just pitch what you’ve done and discovered to another scientist, but that you can take this information to a person “out of field” that is not familiar with the jargon associated with your research.  As one of your industry professionals that created this badge said: “Acorns come from oak trees.  Oak trees become acorns.  Knowing how to plant the right seed (small bit of info) is the skill.”
