Describe the class or student (size of group, level, student characteristics, including placement and/or pre-test data per student, etc.)

As of 4/12/21, third period (7th grade):  13 in person, 1 virtual, fourth period (6th grade), 11 in person, 2 virtual, sixth period (6th grade) 10 in person, 0 virtual SE student, very low, needs to learn to read). Based on San Diego, I have a range of levels from 4th grade to 6th grade.  There are no behavior problems in any of my classes, but there are many that have excess absences.

Describe the delivery structure and length of implementation. All instruction is done live via Meet simutaneoulsly for my online learners.  Each class period is 50 minutes in length daily.

Describe your classroom setup (provide a picture of posters/bulletin board that show mnemonics/strategies, provide a pic of your classroom, etc.) I have twenty four individual desks but in the Xtreme Reading classes, students are spaced out to accomodate for social distancing.  There is a Promethean board at the front of the room and posters on the front wall, ie. word walls, learning conrtacts, etc.

List your selected first novel and share a selection of guided reading words chosen (why did you choose these words).  I chose to use the class novel that the students are using in their ELA classrooms.  The first novel for seventh grade was A Long Walk to Water, and for  sixth grade, it was The Lightning Thief.  The Guiding Reading consists of working on vocabulary, plot, character development, and other comprehension questions as we read the story aloud.  E learners have a digital version to read along with us.  We read about two - three chapters a week.

Describe use of classroom observation and/or video during coaching. Consider featuring Guided Reading for this evidence. (Optional: post the video and instructional checklist used during the coaching session.) I am attaching a Guided Reading Fidelity Checklist.
