This was a super helpful webinar in my opinion. We learned about five apps in total but I really found three to be super exiting and which I definitely plan on using in my classroom. The first was Kahn Academy. Most students are already pretty familiar with using Kahn for homework help videos on youtube but I actually did not know that they had an app as well. There are a bunch of helpful test prep areas on the app as well as some great opportunities for students to practice computer science. I also really loved the BBC app Civilisations. I plan on using this to enhance any of my lessons that might engage with some of the ancient materials on the app. I know that as a student I would have been floored by having VR in my classroom. This is a great opportunity to really engage students. The final app that I wanted to talk about that I really could see myself using in the classroom is Haiku Deck. This app is similar to clips or adope spark and just allows students to create short videos that make a few points. I would love to use this app as an alternative to some writing assignments or even as exit tickets for them to put the main ideas of my class period in before they leave for the day. All in all, I really liked learning about these apps and I could really see potential for their use in my future classroom!
