This is relevant to my future classroom because it introduced me to different apps that I had not previously gotten to interact with. Many of the apps that we got the chance to learn about during this webinar were very applicable to Early Childhood Education. I especially liked the apps Zen Studio and Sock Puppets. I plan to use Zen Studio in my classroom as a calming tool for my students. There are many times in early childhood classrooms where students get overwhelmed and need a break. It is extremely important that there is a safe space for them in the classroom. These areas are typically called a "calm down corner". Students are free to go here when they need to take a break and calm down. I think having an iPad available with the Zen Studio app would be extremely beneficial to my students. This app is simple to use, has calming music, as well as an opportunity for creativity. This would allow students to work creatively, as well as have a distraction to help them calm down. I also feel as though the Sock Puppets app could be a beneficial addition to my future early childhood classroom. Retelling is a standard that is covered and learned in most early childhood grades. Having the Sock Puppets app would make learning and developing this skill more interactive and much more fun for the students. I chose the Educator as Designer ISTE standard for this reflection because I feel like using these apps helps me, as a future teacher, design more meaningful lessons and activities for my future students.
