I reviewed a lesson plan for first grade involving the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I really liked this lesson because even though it is focused on math, science and literacy skills can be implemented into the lesson. The children read the book and then use a 10 frame and unifix cubes to count the total amount of food the caterpillar ate. The children are able to use different methods to visually see and solve an addition equation. The students get to create the equation on their own and how they visually want to solve the problem. I liked this lesson because it can also teach the addition property of equations (that no matter the order with the addition that the sums will be the same). Children will be able to all come up with different equations but still the same sum.
I enjoyed browsing on this website because I can use this as another tool for finding lessons for my class. I did like the rating scale also because it was explained well when grading. This website is a good tool to get inspiration to generate ideas or use someone else's.
