Because it works!!! We need to prepare students by making them more independent and accountable for their learning.

1. Index - Differentiating and personalizing instruction to subgroup of each kid. Meet all needs. 
2. Middle - Data-driven decisions support mastery-based learning. In the middle of it all is data. 
3. Ring - Integrated digital content and learning tools - commitment. Ring finger is hardest to hold up on it's own, takes a lot of effort, but especially commitment to use. 
4. Pinky - Students as creators and producers - education no longer about consuming information. How getting students to move beyond consumption to production. How are students using info to do something. 
5. Thumb - Student agency and ownership of learning. Students knowing what they're learning, what makes them learn best. 
All together 1 Fist makes us powerful.
