Six Principles of TWR

The Writing Revolution (TWR) is as much a method of teaching content as it is a method of teaching writing. There’s no separate writing block and no separate writing curriculum. Teachers of all subjects adapt TWR’s strategies and activities to their preexisting curriculum and content instruction. More Info

Chapters 1 and 2: Sentences

Chapter 1 discusses what makes a sentence a sentence and the different sentence types. It also offers strategies to teach grammar and conventions. Chapter 2 is centered around expanding sentences and the power of notetaking. More Info

Chapter 3 and 4: Planning and Writing

Chapter 3 delves into the importance of planning and the cognitive demands of writing. Aspects such as identifying the topic, audience, and purpose and the types of writing are also included. Chapter 4 takes the reader through the Single Paragraph Outline (SPO). More Info
