2. Read the chapter.

3. Respond to three out of the four following reflection questions:
  • Reflect on the questions listed in the section “Plan for Intentional Instruction” on the bottom of p. 155. How many of these questions are familiar? New to you? How will they impact your lesson design in the future? 
  • How do you typically include background knowledge in your lessons? Does this align with or differ from the suggested activities in this chapter? (consider Table 7.1 on p. 156)
  • What is the connection between background knowledge and reading comprehension? 
  • Which classroom activities and/or tools resonated with you? Why?
