3. Respond to the following:

  • What were your big takeaways from either the video or the podcast?

4. Respond to two out of the five following questions:

  • How do you currently teach vocabulary? Are these evidence-informed methods? How do you know? 
  • Reflect on Figure 4.4 at the top of p. 63. Which elements of vocabulary instruction are present in your own practice? The practice of your colleagues? What might be an area of growth?
  • Consider Figures 4.5 & 4.6 on p. 67 in conjunction with the scripts found on p. 68. Compare and contrast these with your own instruction. What are some similarities and differences? 
  • Which strategies and activities would you most like to use in the future? Why? 
  • How do you know your students are learning word meanings?
