2. Read Chapter 2. 

3. Respond to three out of four of the following questions:
  • Is your instruction mostly focused on the development of comprehension processes or on comprehension products? How do you know? 
  • What does the Rand Reading Study Group Report heuristic (p. 31) reveal about the construction of meaning while we read?
  • Consider Figure 2.4 (p. 34). How does that impact the way you view and teach reading comprehension? 
  • What have you learned about the role of the reading, text, task, and context in constructing meaning? How is this learning relevant to your practice?
