Quiz Quiz trade

Quiz quiz trade is one of my favs. I use it to review for test all the time. It is easy to train the kids to do and always goes well. I like to play too so I can meet up with students and informally check their knowledge as they review.

Writing activity! So much fun!

This was such a fun activity. Students wrote a descriptive sentence about Harry potter after having read a chapter. Then they passed their papers to the right and added a sentence to every new story that circulated to them. By the time students got their own story back, the results were hilarious. The stories were VERY descriptive and funny.

I found a cool lesson with this style of writing. I will link it here.

Logic Lineups

This was so much fun! I found a Sea Creatures logic lineup on the internet and gave a card to each student to color in and study for a few minutes. In preparation for our field trip to the Sea Life Aquarium we have been looking at different physical features sea creatures have and what they are used for. I then put students in teams of 3-4 and read them the logic lineup clues one at a time. I had to repeat the clues several times, but my 1st graders so successful with this!

Before we got started, I also had students draw a specific 2D shape on the back of their cards as we are learning about geometry in math. Once we did a few sea creatures lineups I had kids flip their cards over and do some lineups with shapes. I was able to use the same clues but change the language to make it apply to our shapes.

Quiz-Quiz-Trade

Weekly during our novel we've been reviewing our reading with various quizzes. Today, I decided to us Quiz-Quiz-Trade. The students enjoyed walking around the room and were good about partnering up and answering the questions. It was a good way to review the chapter.

3-2-1 Reflection

We did a 3-2-1 summary after our virtual field trip. They answered the questions in Go Formative. They had to answer 3 things they learned, 2 of the favorite things they saw, and 1 question they had. None of my kids were familiar with the structure. I liked doing it in Go Formative because it made it super easy to see all the questions or things they learned in one easy view. The only issue was that some of the kids complained that they "don't have a question!"
