Overview:

Most of the information in a social studies class, for example, doesn’t change from year to year.  A great way to save time is to use someone else’s study sets.  Quizlet has tons of sets available from past students and teachers.  Customizing pre-made sets can save you tons of time preparing for your class.

Task:

  1. Watch the video to review how to search and customize study sets.
  2. Search the Quizlet Community for a study set that you might use in the near future.
  3. Customize the set by editing several cards, inserting relevant pictures, and adding or deleting cards

Evidence of Learning:

  1. Once you have found a study set to work from, customize the set by editing several cards, inserting relevant pictures, and adding or deleting cards
  2. Upload several pics showing how you customized your study set

In the original version of this set, the creator uploaded several forms for an answer. I deleted these and let the most common form.

I created a card that asked students to name the circled numbers. (coefficients)

I added this directive to all of the cards that require students to simplify.

Originally, these cards were only the vocabulary word. I edited them to be questions and bolded the vocabulary term.

Evidence Explained Part 2

I located a set from the community that dealt with musical terms. The cards were a bit broad so I tailored it down to a fourth grade level, by deleting some terms. There were no photos with this set, so I differentiated by adding photos for students.

Editing Flashcard Set

I edited the flashcard set by changing some of the words in the sentences. I also deleted some of the flashcards with words that will be used later on in the school year. I wanted to use the words that are used in the beginning of the year where students will be using them in their writing and the most common words they will see as they begin as readers. I changed some of the pictures to match the new sentences that I had edited.

For example: The original flashcard for the word "See" said I can see the sky. I wrote "I can see the dog"

The original flashcard said "I like to play at with my friends. I changed it to "I like to play at the park"
