This podcast was right on the money. Since I do not always
have student rosters before I meet students, I have experienced the roll call name
pause. For me, the first time I need to say a child’s name is often during
their first book check out. I always ask the student how to say their name and
I repeat it back to them to make sure I am getting it right. I also ask them to
correct me if I am saying it incorrectly. I make it a point of repeating the
name multiple times so hopefully I will remember the correct pronunciation the
next time.
I have bookmarked the Pronounce Name link and I know I will
be using it in the future. I think this will be a great tool to help me get it
right in the future.
