Explain how one of these additional resources may help you use AI in the classroom.
I watched the video "Gender Shades" under the topic of bias to learn more about how AI can be influenced by bias. The study explained in this video was shocking to me that a tool that is being used can be so flawed.  While AI is being improved daily it is important that we keep this in mind and think of ways to combat this bias, because it can be extremely harmful to people especially people of color.  There is a local school that has been in the news over the past few years for trying to implement the use of this in their high school and many leaders, parents, and students have great concerns about it's use, which after learning more about this bias is completely warranted.

As far as classroom use goes, I think as a first grade teacher I think our impact can be greater trying to find ways to impact the data that goes into the large language models.  With our DEI initiative at SH and a personal interest of my own, we've been working to be sure to immerse texts, videos, conversation into our lessons that reflect all of our students.  When these types of things are more a part of our every day lives AI will have no choice but to have less bias because the information/ "language" they are collecting will be more representative.  We clearly have a very long way to go.
