summary

This is relevant because my students can easily use this app for research or an assignment for any supreme court case. Using this to help me teach about the judicial branch would be so helpful and be interactive. I found the app by searching government in the app store. I also used the website as a student in high school, but did not know they had an app. I think the app is a little confusing on how to search for things, but it is easy to figure out.

Useful and Fun

Tiny Tap is a great quiz app to have in any classroom because it is so versatile. I would absolutely use this app in my future classroom, whether I create the tiny Tap quizzes myself or find quizzes that other teachers of the same subject have made. I have found a lot of different subjects on the app and they seem to be at all grade levels, so it’s useful for just about any teacher out there. It’s also a lot of fun to use because of the creativity involved when creating a new quiz. I have seen some teachers create a sort of presentation/video type feel to the quiz, so it could be used to give to students before a class in order to prepare them. A situation might be that you want your students to learn a bit about a new concept that you will be teaching in the next class, so you create a little presentation that also quizzes them, while making cool sound effects. I suppose there could be some more options for the question part of the quiz making process, otherwise it’s a great app to use.

This app could be very useful to my future classroom because it allows kids and teachers off all ages to create a quick presentation of knowledge learned or concepts being taught. I could use this in my classroom with creating mini lessons, explaining a complicated concept, or having students express their knowledge through a concept just taught. I found this app when doing a technology workshop and I thought it was very easy and useful. This could be useful for me when I become a teacher. I think a fun activity to do would be to use it for students to introduce themselves.

Google Classroom

By taking time to learn and review an app, I was able to better understand the resource in which I was reviewing and decide whether it would be a useful or even relevant tool for my classroom.

I ended up learning a significant amount about Google Classroom, the app that I reviewed, and will now see myself using this as my way of communicating, assigning, assessing, and uploading lessons for students to learn. Other uses of this app, aside from the ones I just listed, include submission of assignments, grading, and even work with other collaboration among other faculty members. I first was introduced to this app two years ago in a class but since then the app has added many new features and that has made it much easier to use while acknowledging even small recommendations from its users.

Reflection

I could use this app in my future classroom as an extra tool. I wouldn’t use it for everyday use, but I would keep it in my back pocket for whenever needed. It can be used for students who are unfamiliar or unsure about a problem. Because it gives step by step explanations and provides a visual aid. This app can also be used for double checking work or to catch a small mistake. If students can correct themselves, they are least likely to make the same mistake twice.

This app provides a great refresher on geography facts and intro to social studies.

When I think of teaching in an elementary setting, I think of a fourth- or fifth-grade classroom. These are grades when social studies and geography become greater priorities on state tests. This app would be good at a weekly station or as a lesson modification and expansion for students who finish social studies assignments early. It could also be used as a team or individual leaderboard for keeping track of geography fact knowledge over time. I found the app colorful, fun, relevant to students’ prior knowledge but capable of more difficult geography fact questions. My one wish is that the app went into greater depth about geography concepts and encouraged more critical analysis and understanding of geography/social studies with higher-level thinking questions and fewer multiple choice answers.

This app is a must have for any foreign language teacher.

While i do not plan on teaching any foreign language in my future, I can still recognize the value this app has for teachers who do plan on teaching foreign languages. Teachers would be able to use this app as a way to help build the foundations of the languages they teach with the students in their classes. This app primarily focuses on practice of key modules of language instead of teaching, making it a great supplementary material for the teachers after they have taught the lesson. It would help keep the students engaged in the curriculum even after the lesson was taught.
I found this app because my roommate highly recommended it to me when I told him I needed to review an app. His Spanish professor uses this app in her classroom and he claims it has truly helped with his study of the language.
If there was a similar app for science classes, this would be something I would defiantly use in my future class.

this could be relevant to my classroom because I plan on doing activities during my lesson plans which means I could use class dojo to help separate groups and give them points. This could also help by making sure each group knows if I know they are on task or not during the activity. Also I would like to use this app to communicate with parents because I do not think parents and teachers communicate enough as it is. I think this app could make it way easier and assessable for teachers and parents to discuss the achievements of their student. This app just makes keeping up with attendance, keeping in touch with students and parents, and showing the students that you are involved and noticing their hard work much easier.

Somewhat Relevent

Using the Nearpod App is somewhat relevant in my future classroom, as I do want to teach 6th grade Math and it allows for student paced learning, yet still control from the teacher on where students need to be in relation to the lesson. There are many features within the app that allow for testing students knowledge using different platforms, for example: drawing tool, multiple choice questions, fill in the blank and check all that apply. You can also add in YouTube videos, GIFS, or even pictures into the lessons, allowing for students to get another set of visuals within the presentation.

Limited Usefulness

While there are aspects to this app that I enjoyed, such as the thoroughness of the curriculum, ultimately I feel it would have very limited capabilities in the classroom because a large part of it is simply repetition and pronunciation, and it is a better learning approach to have a teacher help with pronunciation. However the downloadable audio lessons and short stories could be very helpful tools for independent study time.

Very Useful!

I think that this app could be very useful in my future classroom. In lower elementary reading and writing is such a big focus, so this app could help make that even more fun! Creating a book using technology and pictures and other tools is likely to get students much more excited than a price of printer paper. Also I could create or upload my own books to this app that would be working on the exact words, or sentence structure that we are working on. There are so many fun uses!

I plan on incorporating many proven and effective ways of teaching from my classroom and one of these is the Montessori’s theories. I would use this app as another way to incorporate this style of teaching. I would use it maybe as a free choice center occasionally or in group time on the smart board to integrate technology into my lesson plan. I found this app on the list of popular education apps. It would fit my needs if it was just a one time cost or more inexpensive.
