Your thoughts on Micro-Credentialing and SIM

I am intrigued by this approach to credentialing.  To paraphrase Culatta, "been there" doesn't necessarily mean "done that."  So, delineating specific activities or accomplishments within a discipline informs the learner of his actual participation, which should lead to more meaningful goal-setting.  As a Jawbone/Fitbit wearer, I appreciate tracking my actual progress; I am encouraged to do improve performance.  I can see how an adult learner could be motivated by seeing his progress in SIM. Now if only I could resurrect my Girl Scout badges-!
