Make of students/school: · 3 boys, 1 girl · Special and general education students · Sixth graders · Urban unaccredited middle school
Frequency of use: · Students worked in the classroom at a U shaped table used as a station · Initial lessons were 30 minutes in length · Two 30 minute sessions needed for four vocabulary words · Two additional lessons for 8 vocabulary words . Draft and final student work posted on badgelists.
Success/Challenges · Students enjoyed learning and using the routine · Students were able to recall the definition of all words taught · Teacher asked that additional students learn the routine · Co-Teachers have asked to learn how to use the routine · Students were finishing at varying rates so I adjusted the pairs so they could have the time they needed to complete the device. · I will continue to implement the SIM ‘station’ two times per month · I will teach the teachers how to use the routine.
