Using LINCS Table Routinely

Since we are using adults for participants, I discussed with my SIM partner the "Go" and "Win" section guidelines and how we could help students learn to construct LINCS Tables independently through a series of activities that most students would enjoy.  We also discussed how the "Win" section includes guidelines on how we can empower ourselves as a professional through a process of self-development.  This section can be used when we want to examine the results of our efforts.

LINC Vocabulary Strategy in 9th World Geography

I am the SPED teacher in our General Taught 9th grade World Geography class. We have used the LINC vocabulary several times for two different activities.

The first activity is our daily CNN10 worksheet. Each student is required to complete a brief writing worksheet while watching a 10 minute video on current events around the world. To help our students better understand the words within our word back (specific geographical terms), we have used the LINC routine to assist with mastery of terminology understanding.
The second activity as at the end of our notes for each unit and prior to our Study Guide. This is a helpful tool that allows are students to make a personal connection to the terms we are required to teach and use in our unit notes. This additional step helps to ensure full understanding of terms prior to our unit test. Mastery of this skill will help better prepare our students for the End of the Course testing.
