Implementation Summary

The unit organizer was introduced to a group of adult participants during a training on Sept 30, 2019. During the training, participants were engaged in the co-construction of the unit organizer.  A few participants were unclear when we asked about labeling the relationship between the essence of the new unit and the major unit parts. Together we worked through this.

Unit Organizer

Our Unit Organizer was completed with our district P2G audience. This is a group of adult learners combined of teachers, counselors, and administrators as well as the IU staff on the P2G team.

This is our 2nd year of implementation with our district P2G team, and the length of implementation is one year (of a 3 year cycle). The meetings start in September and then continue monthly through May.

Each meeting is on a monthly basis for a period of 1.5 hours in which the team meets as a group and discusses both P2G as well as the additional strategies such as SIM, Check & Connect, and Transition Discoveries.

The completed unit organizer is included within this the Unit Organizer microcredentialing folder.

Implementation Portfolio

I recently used the Unit Organizer with an undergraduate college class for students who are preparing to become teachers.  There were about twenty students in the class and I used the Unit Organizer to help prepare them for a unit on Marilyn Friend's six co-teaching approaches (see draft above as well as student samples).

When I was a classroom teacher, I used the Unit Organizer regularly for Biology and Algebra classes.  I was a co-teacher and we would consistently introduce a new unit every four to six weeks with an Unit Organizer.
