Teachers helped develop Course and Unit Organizers in professional development before the school year started and continued through regularly scheduled PLC meetings held throughout the 19-20 school year. Course Organizers were sent home with every student at the beginning of the school year and Unit Organizers are sent home to every parent and student in social studies, science, and literacy classes when a new unit begins. Washington Middle School as posted on their website, Facebook, and Twitter how to read the Course and Unit Organizers, as well as, showed a photo of how to locate them in student planners.
During the 19-20 school year, Washington Middle School shared a student produced newscast where they interviewed a teacher asking her to remind our students and parents how we use SIM at Washington Middle School. This newscast was sent out to our staff to show all students during homeroom on January 23rd and then shared to our website, Facebook, and Twitter for parents and community members.
Our school has grown in our use of SIM CE Routines by including not just social studies, science, and literacy classes in our use of Course and Unit Organizers, but now every subject taught at Washington Middle School incorporates them through out their courses.
