The initial work on the FRAME badge occurred fall of 2018 in a small (2-4 student) "center-based" ES classroom of 4th-7th grade students. A couple of lessons were conducted before it was determined that the students were challenged to participate in the lessons due to their behaviors keeping them out of the class for intervention and their very low literacy skills making even copying of phrases and sentences a struggle that triggered further emotional and behavioral upset. Work on the FRAME badge was continued in a second classroom in a less restrictive (ES) setting.
