Professional Development for Concept Mastery Routine

Helen Barrier conducted a professional development meeting with me on 9/9/16 at Hidden Valley High School. She presented the Concept Mastery Routine, along with an overview of the SIM badging program. She covered the routine step by step, and Tammie Sinnes and I discussed our 1st trial of the use of the chart with our 10th grade English class. We discussed the many applications and possible uses in our current plans for the class. I expect this routine to be a valuable technique which will yield great benefits to my students.

Also, I was added to this site and to the Google docs site for access to the materials available for use in the classroom. The materials are abundant and varied so as to be applicable to all lessons I'm preparing for my classes.

We have not progressed far enough into our SOL's to use the concept mastery routine chart developed just yet.  The 'teacher designed' chart should lend itself well to what we want our students to contribute back to the lesson on fractions, decimals, and percents.  By them participating in the 'rules' of what each should look like, should help them to get a more hands-on approach.
