Share the tutorial link with your students. What if a student finishes early? Students can see all tutorials and try another Hour of Code activity. Or, ask students who finish early to help classmates who are having trouble with the activity. How did it go?

Past Experience

We're out of school right now, but I've hosted informal Hour Of Code classes in the past. I provided students with 3-4 options (all links) on Google Classroom and asked them to choose one to complete during the period. If they finished early, I asked them to help someone else or choose another activity. I think that this would be the perfect opportunity in future Hours of Code for a hyperdoc. I can scaffold the lesson visually much better and students will know what they are expected to do more quickly. Students usually love Hour of Code activities because they get choice and because it's fun and different.

Great!

This went really well.  It was a complete change of pace for my students and they were totally into it.  I gave them the freedom to develop their own app at the end of the tutorial and students were doing all different things from "What is your Perfect Vacation?" to gif animations to "Tree ID."  I heard many students say this is fun, I like this.  I didn't know what to expect and thought I might get some resistance but these students were all in, it was fun to watch them.
