In my Math 7 classroom, I focus on making sure every student feels included and supported, no matter their background or learning style. I try to mix things up in my lessons, offering hands-on activities, visual aids, and even some tech tools to make sure everyone can engage with the math in a way that works for them. I check in with students often to see if they’re struggling with anything and make adjustments when needed, whether that’s offering extra help or changing the way I explain something.
I also work hard to build a classroom culture where everyone feels respected. I celebrate the different backgrounds and perspectives that my students bring, whether it's talking about how math is used in different cultures or highlighting mathematicians from all kinds of backgrounds. I make sure the materials and examples I use reflect a wide range of identities so every student can see themselves in the lessons. My goal is to create a space where students not only feel like they belong, but also feel confident that they can succeed in math.
