My students played the Quizizz reviewing the vocabulary and we discussed the mistakes made during the game.

My students are learning the basics of English. In class we are reading for our subject Literature the Informative Text: Amazing Animals from Gwendolyn Hooks. and we are practicing the vocabulary of animals for Communicative Skills.

This Quiz was the perfect assessment for our second period report card, students were very concentrated on playing the game and help me minimize the distractions. After the game, on our second class we reviewed the mistakes and students were participating to analyze what was the most common mistake among their classmates.

it was very helpful because as English is not their first language, the more advanced kids were giving ideas on how to remember the correct spelling of the words, like: "Remember lion is like león in Spanish, change the e for i". "Shofia, remember that elephant has an h just like your name but in the middle", etc.

One of the challenges is that some students have connection problems, I mean poor internet connection. Some other distractions are at home with brothers or sisters as in Mexico we are still in lockdown and working from home, but I can say that I had 98% of my students completing the Quizizz. I will continue using Quizizz because it is a great tool that absolutely fell in love with! Thanks for your great work!

Summary

The Quizizz was fairy easy to develop and administer.  I set the quizizz as a homework assignment and required them to use their real names so that they could earn points. It was extremely useful as a tool to see if students were improving and by how much. I could also see students who signed in and did 1/30 questions only. The students weren't expecting me to be able to see all the data!I will be using quizizz in all my classes including college as practice tests. The majority of my students didn't do quizizz because they didn't think I would know if they did or not. But now that they see that I AM able to track what they are doing, they have suddenly gained an interest in the assignment. My Integrated students loved it! It's a great study tool and a good accountability piece for students.
