I read through it once a few days ago, and then read it again, more slowly the second time. Took some notes, looked up a couple of words. Very interesting piece, I hadn't read it until now. Thank you!

I will have to read this again. There is alot to take in.

So that article "The Moral Obligation to be Intelligent" was very thought provoking.  As I read I longed for the resolution that a man can be both intelligent and morally good, as was the Savior.  I realize that the conflict between intelligence and "faith" or the desire to be good is still evident.  I fonder why the battle has to excist?  Light and truth is intelligence and it is intelligence that allows agency to truly be exercized when making a moral decision to be good.

In the quest for intelligence, we are often consumed by the very forces that cause us to err from that path.  Which of the evils will we be taken by?  Willpower, thoughtfulness, pride, self-preservation, physical strength, intelligence?  What makes up the measure of a man and how are we to judge what is right,  good, or even necessary?  I will need to read again to digest a bit more!

I enjoyed this article and agree with the basic premise that intelligence is a virtue.  I, too, have wondered why the Light Brigade is honored and revered.  It has always seemed to me that someone should have stood up and said, "This is insane!"  At the same time, I don't think pursuing intelligence just for intelligence is the great virtue; I believe using that intelligence to do good in the world is the great virtue.

The virtue of intelligence presumes the quality of faith. Without this prerequisite of trust and patience, intelligence opens to no one.

We as a society forget to recognize intelligence as a great character trait. Wisdom and intelligence should go hand in hand.
