During our PLC, our second grade team identified Money as one of our power standards to address. We researched and collaborated on the effectiveness of this lesson plan, to which we implemented in our classroom. This lesson was scaffolded very well. Students need to identify the value of each coin and comprehend that there are numerous combinations to create a dollar, or other amounts of money. A checklist is a great organization tool to keep track of the different ways to make one dollar. In addition, the utilization of creating an environment to use money, and its many combination, was very effective, especially for English Language Students. Our team created a store to where students' shopped, purchased, and received change.
