Reading Environmental Print – Kindergarteners Ten instructional sessions that can be used during the first few weeks of school.  Helps students pay attention to signs, logos & symbols while teaching them emerging reading and writing practices. Students learn to identify signs, logo’s and symbols in the community.  This lesson can be used with all students.  There is a section to support small group differentiated instruction strategies.  It covers literacy, reading, writing, speaking & listening, language and attention strategies.  Technology is incorporated as students can use a computer, books, iPad and navigate the library.  One of the first lessons is to make a sign they know or learn and share it with whole or small group.  There are two performance lessons embedded in the curriculum with a scoring rubric for teacher.
