Habits of Mind encourages students to work together, think critically, and problem solving together. Students are able to explore new avenues of learning as opposed to the age old lecture set-up of a "traditional classroom". Students get more holistic learning by making predictions and taking risks in their learning environment. Students should work together in groups or pairs to explore a concept even before it has been taught by the teacher. Collaborating together in classrooms create more opportunities for communication and growth within the classroom environment and open exploration help facilitate meaningful conversations in the classroom. Offering students choice about how they want their learning to go assists with all types of learning styles and helps more students be successful a greater percentage of the time.
